Standards Australia and Standards New Zealand recently issued the new edition Wiring Rules AS/NZS 3000 with changes relating to the installation of insulation and halogen downlights in order to reduce the incidents of house fires.
This important change has come about from reports that 57 fires in Melbourne homes alone can have their caused traced to the ignition of combustable material (Insulation) placed near halogen downlights from home insulation installers who were not reputable.
